Until May, 2007 I worked at MIP. Now you can contact me at www.vision-n.de. I finished my Phd-Thesis titled "Plenoptic Modelling and Rendering of Complex Rigid Scenes" in June and the publication will become available soon. Below, the historical content of this page. Camera TrackingIn the BMBF founded project ARTESAS, we are working an markerless tracking in an industrial environment. Artesas aims to provide Augmented Reality (AR) Systems to be used in comlex service situations. This project is a follow-up of the quite famous "ARVIKA" project. To achive the goals of robust, fast and reliable markerless tracking we are working on a realtime Structure-from -Motion approach. Plenoptic RenderingI have been involved in the IST project ORIGAMI: "A new Paradigm for high quality mixing of real and virtual". My topic was to build a system which allows fast capturing of complex 3D-scenes, mix them with virtual objects and display the whole scene from nearly arbitrary new views. To achieve this, I focused on Plenoptic Modeling. To display the sampled scene mixed with the virtual objects different hybrid approaches between 3D-Modelling and Lightfields have been developed. For each new view a geometric approximation is calculated and visualized using multitexture techniques. Without any geometric information about the scene this is similar to the Lightfiled approach. If a complete reconstruction of the scene is availabel (e.g. VRML modell), this can be used with viewdependent textures. This results in a system which "scales between 2D and 3D". For details see section Publications. PublicationsAll my publications can be found here, too: Publications of Jan-Friso Evers-Senne.
Diploma ThesisIn my diploma thesis I developed a orientation sensitive camera for acquiring panoramic images with videocameras. For this purpose I used a headtracker InterTrax2 from Isense mounted on the Camera and connected via USB. The first goal was to get some data from the headtracker. Because Intersense does not support Linux, I have to write a driver on my own. The second goal was to feed an existing implementation of Shum and Szeliskis "Panoramic Image Mosaics"with the combined data of images and orientations. The last step was to develope an application for realtime-preview while recording panoramas. Some examples recorded from the top of our university: The preview and the final Panorama consisting of 15 images. From Xybernaut I was supplied with a MA IV (Mobile Assistent 4) which, in combination with a USB-camera and the Headtracker, is a nice tool to record panoramic images. Diplomarbeit Panoramic Image of Kiel (preview version) Panoramic Image of Kiel (final version) Itrax 2 Linux DriverTo use the Itrax 2 I wrote a kernelmodule for Linux. This is now hosted at Berlios/itraxdrv and has a small own homepage: itraxdrv.berlios.de. Created by admin. Last Modification: Dienstag 08 von Juli, 2008 19:27:00 CEST by evers. |
